Semi-Truck Deliveries For Midwestern Native American Communities
The Diversity Foundation is making a difference in the lives of people. Currently, we are doing everything within our power to help the citizens of Fort Thompson, South Dakota, and the surrounding area know as the Crow Creek community.
Over the past several years, Diversity has organized Collection drives in Winona, Rochester and across SE Minnesota and arranged transportation for numerous (35) semi trucks and trailer loads of used furniture, bedding, clothing, winter coats, boots and shoes for distribution to over 250 households throughout Crow Creek since 2005.
The trucks are full and ready to roll, but we need money to get them to their designation. Approximately $1,200.00 per semi-turck is needed. more...
The People of Crow Creek Need Your Help!
The Crow Creek Reservation in central South Dakota has an extremly high unemployment rate, but things are starting to look up. They now have the opportunity to put up to fifteen people to work ... but they need your help.
Diversity Foundation, Inc. just received a letter from Tom Pickner, their Tribal Employment Director.
If you don't have time to read the entire letter, here are a couple of highlights:
... we have an abundance of enrolled members, who have worked off the reservation with construction skills and experience, who could and should be working here at Crow Creek in some of these local construction jobs.
... a lot of our applicants lack their own hand tools, which is a key requirement for most construction projects. As you know due to our financial situation as a Tribe we don't have many resources to rely on
... If we can provide these startup tools for 12 to 15 of our tribal applicants ... we can get them hired on in good paying jobs building our high school or one of other reservation construction projects now hiring!
